Realistic Stone Texture

Here is the effect that we are going to make in this tutorial.

Step 1

Open a new document in Photoshop with width 1024 and height 768. You could choose any dimension you want but this is just to let you use it as a desktop wallpaper later if you really like it!

Step 2

Make the foreground colour White and the background colour Black. You can do this by pressing ‘D’ first (which sets the foreground as black and background as white) and then pressing ‘X’ which switches the foreground colours.

Step 3

Choose Filter>Render>Clouds. You should get something similar to the image shown below. It won’t be the exact one though.

Step 4

Now choose Filter>Render>Difference Clouds. Do this about 5 times. You should end up with something like this:
