Exporting layers to files
Here is another little known great feature in Photoshop. Photoshop allows each layer in your image to be exported into separate image files. Now what is new in that, you might wonder. But the thing is this can be done easily with no actions using a single dialogue box.
Let us looks at a sample file. I have created a psd file that has three symbols on three layers. You can download the file here:

Or you can create your own file with your own symbols on different layers.
Open up the file symbols.psd. It will have 3 symbols as shown below:
Now choose File>Script>Export Layers to Files. You will get the following dialog box:
You can select where you want the images to be saved by clicking the Browse button. If you require to attach a prefix to the filenames you can enter that too. You can save in many formats including psd, jpeg, pdf, bmp, targa, tiff.
Click Run to start exporting the files.
